Care provider supports brand new purpose-built facility

A brand new purpose-built facility has opened its doors, offering independent living for over 50s in Porth, South Wales.

As a result of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Wales’ largest housing, care and support provider Codi Group teaming up, Dan Y Mynydd is able to provide an alternative to residential care.

Encouraging people to live safely and independently, Radis Community Care has been announced as the on-site care provider, supporting residents to a level that meets individual needs.

The former Dan Y Mynydd Care Home site on Bronwydd Avenue in Porth has been replaced with a modern four-storey development, and has been carefully designed to prioritise independence and community living.

Comprised of 60 high quality apartments made up of a double bedroom, fitted kitchen, a wheelchair accessible bathroom with non-slip flooring, telecare technology and solar electricity, residents are able to live comfortably in a safe and supported setting.

Offering residents a variety of facilities, including a dining area, hair salon, day care centre and activity room, Dan Y Mynydd aims to act as a community hub, with communal gardens and a guest room for friends and family.

As the dedicated care team, Radis Community Care will be on site 24/7 to provide professional care services to residents as and when required.

Emily Thomas, regional manager at Radis Community Care said of this announcement:

“We’re pleased to be working with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Codi Group to support this new extra care service.

“Dan Y Mynydd is a reflection of everything we believe in at Radis, and we’re delighted to be working the local council and Codi Group to provide the people of Porth a quality extra care service prioritising independence and community spirit.”

Codi Group provides opportunities to enable people to reach their full potential, ensuring they can live their life in the home that they choose.

Gary Hortop, Head of Later Living at Codi Group said:

“Seeing Dan Y Mynydd completed and welcoming its first customers over the coming weeks is a real milestone for us. This new extra care community is exactly what our Later Living Strategy is about; high-quality homes that support independence, connection and wellbeing.

“Dan Y Mynydd will be a fantastic place to live, with modern, accessible apartments and shared spaces that bring people together. We’re pleased to be partnering with Radis Community Care as the on‑site care provider, ensuring everyone has the support they need to live the life they choose.”
