The Rise

Located in Plympton, Plymouth, The Rise is a specialist extra care scheme offering a range of self-contained studio, one and two-bedroom apartments for people aged 55 and over, designed to support independent living within a safe and inclusive community. The scheme is purpose-built to meet the needs of people with visual impairments, with thoughtful design features throughout to promote accessibility and ease of living.

Residents benefit from a wide range of on-site facilities, including a communal lounge, dining and bistro area, convenience shop and hairdressing salon. The scheme is set within spacious landscaped grounds, providing pleasant outdoor areas for socialising.

A varied programme of social activities is available, with regular opportunities such as quizzes, music sessions, games and organised events.

For those residents who need support, our care team strive to help them to retain as much independence as possible, for as long as possible. Care is tailored to each individual and delivered within the comfort of their own apartment, ranging from a little help with daily tasks to more regular support throughout the day and night.

Working in partnership with Housing 21 and local health and social care services, The Rise provides high-quality accommodation alongside responsive care and support, enabling residents to live independently while benefiting from a specialist environment designed around their needs.

Donna Wengradt

SERVICE MANAGER AT THE RISE

“With over 30 years of experience in the care sector, I have worked across residential and nursing homes, home care, and extra care services throughout Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall. Starting as a carer, I progressed into roles including Senior Carer, Team Leader, and Extra Care Scheme Manager, while completing my Level 5 in Management. I am passionate about supporting people to live safely and independently, and the most rewarding part of my role is knowing I have made a positive difference in someone’s day.”

“Before I moved in we talked about what I wanted. There was a schedule drawn up about when I needed help and what with.”

“I am one of the original tenants, from when Wellwood House opened in 2002. I call Wellwood House my home. I am now 97 years old and am still able to do what I can for myself, which is thanks to the design of the building and the care and support I receive from the staff. I have got to know them all well over the years and I am very thankful that they have kept me healthy and motivated.”

“The staff support me with what I can't quite manage. They all know how independent I am and don't try to take this away from me.”

“I moved into Ty George Lansbury 6 years ago following discharge from hospital. I couldn’t return to my house, so coming to Ty George was peace of mind for myself and for my family. It meant that I could live independently but still have the support from the 24 hr lifeline service and care team just in case I have any difficulties at all. It’s also good to know there is always the support from the on-site Radis care workers too.”

“I feel safe. There are no care staff that walk through my flat door that I am not pleased to see. Staff are all different but have the same care values at heart. Very kind, caring and reassuring. I am very impressed with this place. I would like to end my days here at Woodland Court.”
