Staff and residents from a leading provider of community based social care and support for vulnerable adults and children have raised over £1,000 for ELHT&Me, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) after holding a community charity day.

Radis Community Care, in Accrington, organised the event which was held at Kirk House Extra Care Service and supported by Hyndbrook House Extra Care Service. It brought together staff, residents and friends of Radis to raise funds for ELHT after some members of staff had recently received cancer treatment with the Trust.

Support Worker at Radis, Jane Harris and Service Manager at Hyndbrook, Susan Carne organised the event as a thank you to the ELHT teams who cared for their staff during a difficult time for them.

Susan said: “This cause was very close to our hearts, as two of our own staff members received cancer treatment at the hospital last year.

“We wanted to show our gratitude while also supporting the brilliant work they do for the wider community.

“The generosity of everyone who took part has been overwhelming and we’re delighted to have raised an incredible £1,062.26.”

The total raised will go towards supporting patient care and services within the hospital.

Head of ELHT&Me Denise Barrett-Wilson said: “This is a fantastic example of how a strong community spirit coming together can raise much-needed, worthy funds.

“We are deeply grateful to all involved for standing with us and helping make a real difference to cancer patients across East Lancashire.” To learn more about how you can support ELHT&Me, visit www.elhtandme.co.uk and for more information about Radis Community Care and its services, please call 0330 100 8150 or visit www.radis.co.uk.
