Radis Community Care has donated funds to support a new choir in Cheltenham called Golden Voices, that helps people living with a dementia experience the benefits of singing together.
The free community choir is run by the Everyman Theatre.  The theatre is Gloucestershire’s leading live entertainment venue, presenting a wide range of productions year-round, including ballet, opera, drama, dance, comedy, live music and a traditional annual pantomime. Opened in 1891, The Everyman Theatre is a Victorian masterpiece, with its magnificent, recently restored, main auditorium designed by esteemed architect Frank Matcham.
The Golden Voices Choir offers a safe, supportive and joyful creative outlet for people living with dementia.
It helps to reduce stress and provides a creative outlet, giving members the chance to come together, share experiences, and build friendships.
Led by Everyman Theatre’s Choir Director Caroline Mander, the choir uses music to unlock memories, reduce anxiety and provide a sense of connection.  The dementia adviser is Getta Sutton, Service Development Lead at Radis Community Care.
Thanks to Radis Community Care’s donation, The Everyman Theatre has been able to expand Golden Voices, offering two sessions a month until at least February 2026.
Rachel Brooks-O’Dell, Regional Manager at Radis Community Care, said: “We are incredibly proud to support Golden Voices and the wonderful work being done by the Everyman Theatre.
“Music has such a powerful ability to bring joy, spark memories, and create moments of connection, especially for people living with dementia.
“Seeing our community come together in such a supportive, uplifting way is truly inspiring, and we’re delighted that our contribution will help the choir grow and continue making a difference.”
Jessica Price, Head of Education and Community at The Everyman Theatre, added:
“Golden Voices is one of our newest community initiatives, and it has quickly become one of the most impactful!
We are incredibly grateful to be working with Radis Community Care, whose expertise, combined with the dedication of our dynamic and caring creative delivery team, has shaped a truly special project for people living with dementia and their loved ones.
