This Learning Disability Week, Radis Community Care is celebrating the amazing team at West End Village in Stoke-on-Trent, who’ve been recognised nationally for the difference they make every day.

The team has been shortlisted for the Supporting Older People with Learning Disabilities Award at the 2025 National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards. It’s a real honour and reflects the team’s kind, thoughtful and person-centred approach to care.

Learning Disability Week is all about raising awareness, breaking down stigma, and celebrating inclusion. It’s a chance to recognise the achievements of people with learning disabilities, and to highlight the importance of giving everyone the support they need to live full, independent lives. For Radis, it’s also an opportunity to shine a light on the teams and individuals who go the extra mile to make that happen.

At West End Village, the team does just that. Whether it’s helping someone regain confidence after the loss of a loved one, or supporting a resident to get back out into the community, they’re always finding ways to make life that little bit brighter.

In one powerful example, they’ve been a constant presence for a resident going through cancer treatment without any family nearby – attending every appointment and making sure they never feel alone.

Sarah Brown, Regional Manager at Radis, said: “We’re so proud of the West End Village team. They’re dedicated, they genuinely care, and they make a huge difference to people’s lives. This award nomination is really well deserved.”

Judging for the awards took place virtually on Tuesday 3rd June, and the winners will be announced at a black-tie event in Birmingham on Friday 4th July.

Learning Disability Week is a reminder that small acts of care and connection can have a big impact. Radis is proud to stand alongside people with learning disabilities, and proud of the teams, like the one at West End Village, who work every day to help people feel seen, supported and empowered.
