A local care service in Nottingham has been rated ‘Good’, following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Radis Community Care, who help people to remain as independent as possible in their own homes was inspected in March, and the newest report gave the service a glowing report.

The Visiting Care service achieved the rating thanks to its ability to deliver a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led service to its service users.

Inspectors praised the service and recognised that service users who currently receive support from Radis were “treated with kindness and respect.”

The report also noted that service users were “supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.”

Paula Hoggarth, Group Operations Director for Radis Community Care said: “We are delighted by the CQC’s ‘good’ rating which is nothing less than what our incredibly dedicated and hardworking staff deserve for the amazing services that they provide to people in Nottingham – particularly in these current challenging times.

“Thanks to their commitment, people are able to remain as independent as possible within the comfort of their own homes and we’re really proud of them all.”

As part of the inspection, a number of service users, staff and relatives were spoken to and encouraged to provide feedback on the support they received from the Beeston-based branch.

Inspectors said that people’s feedback about the service “was consistently positive”, with people commenting on how care staff went above and beyond.

One relative commented: “The staff have really gone the extra mile to help my relative, so I can’t say anything bad about them at all.”

The CQC report commended Radis in its overall summary and noted that “people were protected from the risk of infection when supported in their own homes”. They also added: “staff who had training in infection prevention and control, had access to protective equipment, and understood how to maintain good infection control practices when providing care.”

Staff were also described in the report as being “proud to work at the service”. One individual commented: “It’s really good working here. The best place I’ve worked. The staff are all so friendly to each other and if there is a problem, we help each other.”
