Restored historic building becomes supported housing for adults

A historic Grade II listed building in Market Rasen is now a refurbished supported living service, supporting adults and offering 24-hour care.

Grange House is part of a £7 million scheme, and the restored building is now made up of 10 modern apartments, with Lindum Group having worked hard to bring Acis Group’s vision to breathe new life into the building.

Leading care provider Radis Community Care was awarded the tender and will be providing quality support and care to those residing at Grange House.

In partnership with Acis, a dynamic charity, Lincolnshire County Council and West Lindsey District Council, the scheme also received additional funding from Homes England to get it up and running.

The supported living service has officially opened its doors, and will specialise in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism and acquired brain injuries as well as physical disabilities and mental health needs.

Having transformed the rundown building into an essential community asset, Grange House is now fully functional and accessible, with an adapted ground floor flat also available.

Providing people with high-quality housing, Grange House has been designed to offer a vital balance of independent living, privacy and person-centered support with Grange Barn on the same site to ensure the local community remains at the heart of the vision, too.

Kerri Beasley, regional manager at Radis Community Care said:

“We’re delighted to be a part of this new chapter, and to be announced as the care provider for this exciting new development.

“With a people-focused and community-centered approach, we continue to expand our services and are proud to play a pivotal role in bringing to life the shared vision of the housing providers and local council to create a thriving and inclusive community.

“We are excited for the growth of supported living services in Lincolnshire and the positive impact the Radis team will undoubtedly have on the lives of these individuals whom we will be supporting.

Much more than just a service, this is an entire community and Grange House is just one arm of The Grange Collective in Market Rasen.

Cllr Steve Clegg, executive member for adult care and health, said: “We know that many young adults with disabilities want their independence like others their age.

“Grange House will offer them a home of their own, with the support they need to live meaningful and independent lives.

“This will let them stay connected to their local community, where they can be supported by their social network.

“This Grade II listed building has provided a home for young people and adults in need for over 60 years, and this incredibly beneficial project will continue that proud tradition.”

Acis Group helps communities thrive through social housing, education and skills,  wellbeing services and student accommodation across Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

It launched a multi-million pound project consisting of Grange Hub, Grange Café and Grange Barn – creating a network of support services in the heart of the local community.

Claire Woodward, Director of Community Investment, at Acis Group said:

”To see Grange House being brought to life as a place where people can live more independently in the community is truly humbling.

“The Grange Collective enables us to bring wider services to a small town and help truly integrate them to create opportunities for employment, support and to help tackle the challenges faced by rural communities.

“By transforming rundown historic buildings into essential community assets, The Grange Collective’s ambition is to drive opportunities for local people to learn, live and grow.”
