Historic Bradshaw House Officially Opens as New Supported Living Service in Congleton

Radis Community Care and Kingsgate Developments have, this week, officially launched the newly transformed Bradshaw House, a Grade II-listed Georgian property in the heart of Congleton.

The opening was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the individuals supported by the service, staff, and community stakeholders.

Originally built in 1820 for former mayor John Bradshaw, the property has been sympathetically converted into six high-spec, one-bedroom apartments, offering a modern and safe home for adults with additional needs – all while preserving the heritage and character of a treasured local landmark.

The event marks the culmination of over a year of renovation work to bring the building up to contemporary standards, creating a bespoke Supported Living service that combines state-of-the-art assistive technology with the charm and history of the original building.

The new service reflects the core values of Supported Living – providing adults with the opportunity to live independently in their own homes while receiving tailored support to meet their needs and aspirations.

Developed by Kingsgate Developments, the project took great care to protect and celebrate the building’s history.

Features such as original doorways, cornices, and sash windows have been lovingly restored and incorporated into the final design.

The new residents, who attended the launch, have begun settling into their purpose-built homes, supported by a dedicated on-site team offering help with personal care, community access, and daily living tasks – always with a focus on promoting independence, dignity, and autonomy.
