Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Radis Community Care (“Radis”) is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions Reduction Targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 373 tCO₂e by 2030. This is a reduction of over 54% from our baseline year.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 285 tCO₂e, a 34% reduction against the 2022 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract:

• Replacement of existing fluorescent lighting with newer energy-efficient LED lighting at Head Office. This site is the largest consumer of electricity within Radis, and the replacement has resulted in annual savings identified in ESOS Stage 2 reporting.
• A reduction in visiting care service locations through managed exit or consolidation of contracts and working areas.
• Extending opportunities for hybrid working where suitable and staff encouraged to use video conferencing where possible, reducing the need for business travel.
• Replacing less efficient company-leased electric vehicles (EVs) with more energy-efficient EVs on renewal/end of their leases.
• Installation of EV chargers at Head Office, currently providing an opportunity for staff with electric vehicles to charge at the workplace and encourage move to electric cars for staff and visitors.

 

In the future, we hope to implement further measures such as:

• Replace existing inefficient boiler at Head Office with newer energy-efficient model.
• Replace window glazing and seals at Head Office to improve building energy efficiency.
• Continue digitisation of paper records and the implementation of an electronic care management platform to significantly reduce purchase, printing, filing, postage and storage of paper records.
• Promote and encourage our recycling of IT equipment to local communities to avoid disposal as waste.
• Provide training for drivers in economical driving techniques, to help reduce business travel and commuting emissions.
• Switch to renewable and zero-carbon energy suppliers.
• Review the supply chain to promote use of zero-carbon suppliers for our purchases.
• Reduce on-site parking, encourage car sharing, increase use of public transport and promote walk/cycle-to-work schemes.
• Consider the use of carbon offsetting against residual emissions.

 

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard1 and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting2.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard3.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
